TEAMS from the Bestwood Village battalion of the Boys Brigade were quick to get their brains into gear when they took first and third place in an annual quiz.
The quiz was laid on by the northern district of the Brigade at the Mansfield Road Baptist Church in Nottingham.
More than 50 competitors split into seven teams did battle in a variety of rounds.
The A team of the 28th company (Bestwood Village), based at St Mark’s Church in the village, took top spot with 74.5 points, while their B team came third with 68.
Sandwiched into second were 25th Warren Hill company, with 18th Hucknall, who are based at the Central Methodist Church on Baker Street in the town, coming a creditable fourth on 67.5.
The top two places were a repeat of last year’s result.
The teams tackled subjects that included bible knowledge, Boys Brigade knowledge, music, maths, spelling and general knowledge.
District activity convenor Ken Willows thanked everyone who took part, especially organiser Greg Cowley.
