Ford improves its supermini engine line-up across range

Ford has made several changes to its popular Fiesta supermini, improving the specification across the range as well as increasing the number of options available to buyers.

The frugal Econetic engine is now available in Zetec and Titanium trim in addition to the existing Edge model, bringing features such as alloy wheels, chrome detailing, an upgraded audio system and Bluetooth connectivity depending on the model grade, while delivering the impressive CO2 emissions of just 95g/km.

In addition, Ford has added a new Metal special edition with a potent 1.6-litre petrol engine offering 132bhp for increased performance.

It is distinguished from the sporty Zetec-S model by the addition of 17-inch alloy wheels, a twin chrome exhaust, silver exterior detailing and leather sports seats.

Handling has been sharpened too thanks to lowered sports suspension. Prices start at £13,895 for the Edge Econetic, £14,445 for the Zetec Econetic and £15,645 for the Titanium Econetic, with the Metal edition starting at £15,695.

n The most fuel efficient Ford Mondeo was declared the UK’s greenest family car at this year’s What Car? Green Awards. The 65.6mpg 1.6-litre TDCi (turbo diesel) model sealed the green recognition from What Car?.
