“I will be competing myself, but if the workshops are really popular, I won’t have the time to compete as I’ll be running the workshops myself.

“We run workshops every Wednesday for regulars, and we always welcome newcomers too, and we’ll help to train them up so they can go on to be as good as they want to be.”

Daniel’s father was a member of a shooting society and he developed his own passion for knife throwing 15 years ago.

He is a fully signed-up member of the Knife, Axe, Tomahawk Throwing Association UK.

Daniel added: “I came from a shooting background. I dropped it off through my teen years, but I started back up 15 years ago and got hooked, so that’s when I opened the Woodend Farm Complex.

“It is classed as a sport, but it doesn’t have any governing body recognition as yet.

“The knifes we throw have no working edge on them, they are totally dull, with only the point needed to stick in to the target, so you could not cut with them.”

When the Knife and Axe Throwing World Championships come to Woodend Farm Complex this August, it will be only the second time the competition has been held in Europe.

Last year, competitors from 12 different nations were in action in Callac, France. These nations included Italy, Russia, Switzerland or the Czech Republic.

Woodend Farm Complex also run airgun shooting and archery and crossbow shooting in their target sport range.
