PREPARATIONS for the festive season were in full bloom when HUCKNALL FLOWER ARRANGING GROUP hosted the demonstration, ‘Dressed For Christmas’, at its November meeting.
Taking centre stage was national demonstrator Jonathan Moseley, who has been invited to design an exhibit at Chelsea Flower Show next year and is well-known for his workshops.
Jonathan created six designs of varying sizes and shapes and with a wide variety of foliage. Flowers used ranged from anthuriums to miniature pineapples and deciduous Italian berried holly.
To complement each design and to bring through the Christmas feeling, Jonathan incorporated artificial glittered leaves and sparkly twisted cascades in gold and silver. Shiny and colourful baubles were used in large baskets as accessories.
It wouldn’t be Christmas without candles, so tall white ones were used in an autumn-inspired design.
Throughout the evening, Jonathan kept the audience enthralled by his creativity, skill, energy and knowledge. His designs included new ideas and display techniques. Although a little early for Christmas, Jonathan certainly set the scene. He was thanked for his demonstration by Jean Fordham.
The group’s next meeting is on Wednesday December 14 when members will have a ‘Magical Party’.
