From world-renowned sports people to award-winning actors and musicians, who would have guessed our town would be so full of them?

Earlier this week, we gave you a list of 11 famous people from Mansfield - but that just wasn’t enough, so here’s 15 more.

Ric Lee. This music producer and drummer played in blues rock band Ten Years After, who played at Woodstock festival in 1969. Ric went to Sherwood Hall School, where youngsters would crowd around his old school photos which had been taken when he was there just a few years earlier.

Chris Gascoyne. Or Peter Barlow, as he’s more commonly known. Chris, who is originally from Huthwaite, has been nominated for several soap awards for his performances in Coronation Street.

Dorothy Atkinson. This Mansfield-born actress has starred in several films, such as Topsy-Turvy, All or Nothing, and Mr Turner - for which she was nominated for a BIFA Award for Best Supporting Actress.

John Cotton. World-class cricketer John has played professional cricket for Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire as well as England. He was born in Newstead and grew up in Mansfield, where he still resides today.

Oliver Wilson. A professional golfer who is a European Tour pro, ex Ryder Cup player and winner of the Alfred Dunhill Championship - and he is from our town. He also flew all the way back here from the USA to host a DARE charity golf event at Hollinwell to raise funds to be used locally.

Josanne Potter. Mansfield Woodhouse’s very own professional footballer - who has played for the likes of Arsenal and Charlton - also played in the Women’s World Cup in Canada in 2015, helping the team to secure the third spot for a bronze medal.

Watson Fothergill. This Mansfield-born architect designed hundreds of buildings around Nottinghamshire in the 19th century, many of which still stand today.

Jason Statham. Wannabe cockney Jason Statham - who is actually from Shirebrook - has starred in the likes of The Italian Job, Snatch, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and not to mention that he was a diver on the British National Diving team.

Ray Wilson MBE. A former professional footballer from Shirebrook who was part of the England team which won the 1966 World Cup.

James McGuinesss. Jay makes up one fifth of chart-topping boyband The Wanted. The 25-year-old went to All Saints RC School in Mansfield and attended various performing arts schools around the county.

Lee Wilson. This talented Mansfield man has made history by becoming the first player to play for Mansfield Town and Mansfield Cricket Club. Wilson has also been the first team manager of various non-league clubs.

Jake Buxton. Another footballer, from Sutton, who played for Mansfield Town before moving on to Alfreton Town, Burton Albion and now Derby County.

Greg Owen. Another golfer born and bred in our town. Owen is a record-setting, award-winning pro who finished in the top 100 of the Order of Merit for seven years.

Carlo Santanna. The lead singer of 1970s pop sensation group Paper Lace went to school and grew up in Shirebrook.

John Hurt. Veteran stage and screen legend John Hurt, from Shirebrook, has appeared in many renowned films and televesion series over the last fifty years. He has been in films such as Alien, Indiana Jones and Harry Potter - as well as playing Doctor Who in the 50th anniversary special.
