18 new officers added to the ranks of Nottingahamshire Police

The officers passed out in front of their friends and family and were officially welcomed into the policing family during a short ceremony at Nottinghamshire Police Headquarters on Friday July 27.

Cohort E, the latest intake of officers, were inspected by Assistant Chief Constable Steve Cooper and were the seventh cohort to pass out so far 2018, with still three more cohorts to pass out before the end of the year.

Chief Constable Craig Guildford said: “The 18 new officers will be joining their new colleagues to police across Nottinghamshire.

“It was fantastic to welcome all our new recruits to our policing family in an occasion they will remember for their rest of their lives.

"We have worked very hard on recent recruitment drives and I believe we are an employer of choice.

"It’s a very exciting time for Nottinghamshire Police as we edge closer to our 2,000 officer target. I'd like to congratulate all 18 new officers and wish them luck in their future careers."

Paddy Tipping, Nottinghamshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner, said: "I’m delighted to welcome another cohort to the police. It shows that our recruitment plans are turning into a visible reality.

"The passing out parade is an important moment in these officers’ careers and I wish them all every success. The new officers have learnt a lot over the past 18 weeks during their training and they will continue to learn when they are deployed to their areas."

The 18 officers have a mix of backgrounds including a former professional ice hockey player, Nottinghamshire Police PCSOs, Specials, Customer Support Advisor, Control Room Dispatcher and a Royal Marine.

PC Nate Lonsdale, 22, originally from Plymouth will be based at Radford Road. He’s excited for his new career.

He said: “I can’t wait to get out and put the training I’ve done into good use. I’ve come from a military background, so I’ve had no policing experience prior to this. I wanted to get busy in my career and I want to work hard for the local community.

"Training’s been very comprehensive and it’s helped me understand what is needed for this role.

“I spotted the post on Facebook and applied. I’d definitely encourage those who are looking for a policing role to research into working for the police.”
