The Hucknall U3A held their AGM at the Hucknall Leisure Centre on 9th April.

The chairman and committee serve for a two year term and so as Barbara Ives stepped down as chairman, John Tedstone was elected.

Several committee members also retired and were thanked for their commitment particularly Rose Ridley who has held the position of secretary for the last six years.

Rose was presented with a gift and a garden rose in appreciation of all the work she has undertaken.

Among the interest groups run by U3A members, there is a Creative Writing group whose members composed and read out their own piece of work based on the theme “I wish I could--”.

The results were enjoyed by the audience, many being light-hearted and humorous reflecting on life as we age.

The knitting and craft groups also showed some of their work with a display of beautiful cross stitch, handmade cards for sale and some knitwear which was modelled along with felted bags, scarves and shawls.

The next meeting is on Wednesday 14th May when the speaker is David Coleman with “Tales of a Pitman”.
