Santa came early for older residents at a housing scheme in Hucknall with the help of generous donations from local shops.
All of the residents at Herbert Buzzard Court received a present at their Christmas party after Boots donated hundreds of pounds worth of products including perfumes, shampoos, moisturisers and other gifts.
Debra Mundle, who manages the retirement housing scheme, contacted local businesses to see if they could help. She said: “We have been overwhelmed with the response from Boots and Tesco, who have both been extremely generous.
“We have a great community spirit at the court which means many of our tenants enjoy all of the festive activities we hold.
“We wanted all of them to have a gift this year which is why I contacted some local businesses in the hope we could get hold of some things to give out.
“Boots have been so generous, and Tesco, which has supported us throughout the year, has been great and the Community Champions, Jan Lees and David Stapleton, make a brilliant Mr and Mrs Claus.”
Mr and Mrs Claus were also on hand at the Hankin Street court last Wednesday to give residents their gifts.
Jan Lees and David Stapleton as Santa, said: “We really enjoyed meeting the residents and a cup of tea and a mince pie.
“It’s our pleasure to put a smile on the faces of other people at Christmas.”
Herbert Buzzard features 31 self-contained retirement apartments with a court manager and communal facilities.
