Acclaimed folk-singer returns for village hall gig

RENOWNED folk singer Steve Knightley is back by popular demand at Papplewick Village Hall on Saturday (February 12).

The talented Knightley is the songwriting force behind the group Show Of Hands, who are widely acclaimed as the finest roots acoustic duo in England.

They have three sell-out shows at the Royal Albert Hall in London to their name and won the Best Live Act title in the 2004 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards — the only category voted for by the public.

Now Knightley the soloist is preparing for his third annual appearance at the village hall, off Linby Lane, in a gig organised by Farnsfield Acoustic.

On his previous visits to picturesque Papplewick, Knightley has been joined by young singer Jenna Witts.

But this time round, Knightley will share the stage with young folk vocalist Jim Causley, who hails from Devon and specialises in traditional songs and music from the West Country.
