The Chapter 4 Group (Mansfield Palace Youth Theatre) will be performing at the Crucible Theatre Studio in Sheffield as part of the National Theatre Connections 2014.

Ten professional playwrights have been commissioned to write plays for Connections and youth theatre groups will perform them at venues around the country.

Chapter 4 is performing Catherine Johnson’s A Letter to Lacey, which uses theatrical techniques such as storytelling, music and song, to address the hard-hitting subject of abuse between a teenage girl and her boyfriend.

Chapter 4 director, Hannah Stone said: “A Letter to Lacey has been an exciting challenge for Chapter Four.

“The play explores a topic which is often not talked about and has been a great way to unlock discussions around the issue. Having the chance to work on a new play written especially for teenagers by a professional writer has been a fantastic opportunity for myself and the company.”

The performance will take place on Saturday at 7.15pm.

One production of each of the ten plays, from all those taking place from around the country, will be chosen to be performed at London’s National Theatre later this year.

Student Hannah Brown said: “For me, I’ve found this show incredibly rewarding and a very valuable experience.

“It’s been hard work but something that I find will help me with my acting but also have an impact on others. I love that I’ve had the chance to be in something so important and relevant to everyone.”

Tickets for the evening (which will also include the performance of another play) cost £5 and are available by calling the Crucible Theatre Box Office on 0114 249 6000, or you can book online at www.sheffieldtheatres.co.uk.
