Adrian gives something back

A kind-hearted Mansfield man has donated three defibrillators to public places after collapsing with a sudden cardiac arrest while playing football.

Football-mad father-of-two Adrian Hall (36) was on holiday with his family when he was struck down with an arrhythmia - a condition where the heart cannot pump enough blood round the body.

Thankfully a nearby onlooker leapt into action with CPR and an on-site doctor used a defibrillator to shock his heart back into a normal rhythm.

While recovering in hospital Adrian came across charity the Arrhythmia Alliance’s Hearts and Goals Campaign, which hopes to get as many defibrillators as possible in public places across the country.

Said Adrian: “I decided to host a golf event where I would invite as many people as possible to play.

“The day was amazing - we had 96 golfers turn up and managed to raise £6,500 in total with the day costing us £3,000 so we had £3,500 to spend on defibrillators.”

Adrian gave all three pieces of life-saving kit, paid for by the Rufford Golf Club tournament, to sports venues.

They went to Nottingham Climbing Centre, Basford, Sherwood Forest Golf Club and Notts Golf Course, Kirkby.
