Ashfield CAB is taking part in the national ‘Big Energy Saving Week’ next week and is offering free advice to help consumers save energy, cut their bills and get the support they are entitled to.

Consumers will be helped to check they are on the best deal, switch tariff or supplier and insulate their homes.

People can drop into the bureau on Market Street in Sutton on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday morning to find out how to save on their bills.

Sue Davis, chief executive, said: “The rising cost of living means that more and more people are finding that their household budgets won’t cover day to day essentials. We’re keen to make sure that no-one pays a penny more than they need to on energy costs.”

By taking action to check, switch and insulate, consumers could make these savings on their energy bills:

- £325 average saving from insulation and other energy saving measures

- £100 average saving paying by direct debit rather than cash or cheque

- Up to £200 saving for switching tariff or supplier if you have never switched before

Consumers can also get help and advice online at www.bigenergysavingweek.org.uk.

The Big Energy Saving Week is from 27th to 31st January.
