Lee Fazakerley, 21, of Maple Drive, admitted driving with 55 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, when the legal limit is 35 microgrammes, when he appeared at Mansfield court on Wednesday.

The court heard police stopped his Ford Fiesta on June 17, in Pleasley, after CCTV cameras spotted him driving erratically.

Melanie Hoffman, mitigating, said Fazakerley was a painter and decorator who had been hoping to set up his own business, but after losing his licence he would no longer have a job.

She said: “Prior to that he was a driver and he realises that those career opportunities will not be available to him.

“He provides a lot of care to his mother and he is the first port of call.

“There will be long-term consequences from this offence.”

He was banned for 12 months. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
