Hucknall’s all-action Kang Han Combat Academy has been given coveted Clubmark status.
Kang Han started out in 1999 as a taekwondo club under the guidance of Grand Master Ian Lennox eighth dan, technical director for British Taekwondo (BTCB) and the national governing body for taekwondo in Great Britain.
The academy now features taekwondo, boxing, kick boxing, and jujitsu and is also used as a dance and fitness centre.
Kang Han chair Simon Wilmot said: “The lack of genuine sporting facilities within the area to meet this need can be demonstrated by the academy absorbing three local boxing clubs and two kick-boxing clubs, with a judo and fencing club waiting to move in as well.
“Combining this with Hucknall’s rapidly-expanding population and a high level of deprivation in some parts of the town, we are looking for partnership help in further developing the club’s amenities to meet the local community’s present and future needs.”
More than 500 people a week use the academy, where training is provided for all abilities, both genders and ages ranging from four to 59. It supports both able-bodied and disabled members alike.
