All terrain fundraiser for Batten’s

The couple joined other participants at the Nottingham Off-Road Events near Farnsfield for a day of thrills and spills in a 4x4 vehicle.

The centre held a special day with a large portion of the day’s costs going to the Battle Batten campaign.

“We had a brilliant day and £400 was raised from the day’s activities,” said Sarah whose twin boys, Freddie and Louie, have the neuro-degenerative condition, Batten Disease.

“There were also stalls selling cakes run by our regular supporters which boosted the total.”

The campaign’s aim is to raise £50,000 to enable a research programme to be set up to investigate the particular strain of the disease that the boys have.

Another event organised in support of the campaign was a Fit-a-Thon at Aldercar Leisure Centre with Phil Coker and paratriathlete Phil Hogg.

“Andrew and Suzy, who is running as his guide in the Nottingham Half Marathon, also took part and enjoyed it but I decided to run the raffle instead,” added Sarah of Annesley Road. “But the event went really well and it is hoped the total raised will exceed £1,000 when all the sponsorship money comes in.”

The campaign’s running total currently stands at £26,622.97.

Future events include a head shave by Tina Marshall of Tiny Tots which is run from the John Godber Centre where Freddie and Louie attended when they were younger. She is preparing for the shave at H20 on Sunday 24th August.
