Amber’s funeral described as ‘beautiful’

The service was held at Mansfield Crematorium on Derby Road at 12.30pm, yesterday, Wednesday 1st July.

The funeral had been open to the public to attend, at the request of Amber’s family.

However, the media were not invited.
Amber’s body had been carried by a horse-drawn carriage.

The service was led by Val Stanley and the funeral was organised by Derby-based GE Simnett and Family.

One mourner said: “It was a beautiful ceremony to finally lay her to rest. 
“GE Simnett handled it beautifully.”

The order of service said the occasion was a ‘celebration for the life’ of Amber, and a message read: “The family would like to thank everyone for attending the service today and for all the kind words of sympathy at this sad time.”

A wake was then held at The Rushley pub, on Nottingham Road afterwards, surrounded by scores of pink balloons.

Searches for the youngster were launched after she went missing from her home on Bosworth Street on the evening of 30th May.

Following an argument with her parents, she stormed out of the house.

The police were called when she failed to return home, and a huge search was conducted throughout the region, involving hundreds of local people.

Her body was found in hedges off Westfield Lane on the evening of Tuesday 2nd June. She had died from hanging, and police say there were no suspicious circumstances.
