Annesley: Bus firm says sorry after pricing error

A bus company has apologised to customers who were over-charged on one of their services.

Tony Boultby regularly catches Trent Barton’s 3A bus to go to work.

He was told on boarding at Annesley on Monday the price had gone up from £4.60 to £5.70 for a return ticket - an increase of 23 per cent.

Mr Boultby was also annoyed that any price hike had not been advertised.

“To be told it had gone up by that much for a service that can be 20 minutes late and overcrowded was a shock,” he said.

“I was also annoyed we weren’t told in advance. Even the driver didn’t known until his shift started.”

Trent Barton said it had identified an ‘anomaly’ among their pricing and confirmed Mr Boultby’s trip should have cost £4.80.

Commercial director Alex Hornby said: “We apologise to those customers involved and welcome them to ask for their money back.

“We placed thousands of flyers on buses affected (by price increases) and updated social media and website outlets.”
