Traders on Annesley Road in Hucknall are bracing themselves for more disruption as the road faces a month of repair work.
The road will be shut in four stages over a four week period while National Grid Gas carries out gas mains and service renewal works.
The repairs start at the junction with Spring Street on Monday 29th June and are scheduled to finish on Friday 31st July, north of Victoria Street.
The works will be carried out by tRIIO, who expect delays to be caused when temporary signals are in place.
Last July and August businesses were affected by Western Power Distribution’s protracted attempts to install electricity cables on Annesley Road.
Mike Coultas, who owns Hucknall Home Improvemnts on Annesley Road, said: “I presumed it was part of the initial pain of the inner relief ring road scheme, We have received no official notification.
“Because we own the premises and we don’t employ loads of staff we have weathered last year’s disruption quite well. But if we were a new business, paying rent and wages, then we would have had real problems.
“It doesn’t surprise me because I have seen an awful lot of coloured road markings. Red marks in the morning - retailers’ warning!”
