Annual concert in honour of Bestwood Male Voice Choir founder

THE ANNUAL memorial concert in honour of the stalwart founder member of Bestwood Male Voice Choir is ready to take to the stage again — to coincide with the organisation’s diamond jubilee year.

Len Hogg (pictured) founded the popular choir 60 years ago, in 1952, and was their driving force.

He was made president in 1982 and continued to perform until only a few months before his death in January 2005 at the age of 89.

Now the remaining members of the choir, who are based at Bestwood Village Social Club, are to stage the Len Hogg Memorial Concert on Saturday January 28.

The venue will be Watnall Road Baptist Church in Hucknall, with proceeds going to the town’s Under One Roof charity and other local causes.

Supporting the choir’s traditional and popular songs will be both solo and duet items by choir soloists as part of an exciting programme being prepared by musical director Mirek Rus.
