Armistice Day: Hucknall remembers

Hucknall fell silent at 11.11am today, November 11 2018 to pay respect to those who made the ultimate sacrifice 100 years ago.

Many of those from Hucknall left the area to fight, and never returned.

Armistice Day today coincided with Remembrance Sunday, and Hucknall’s community paid tribute to the brave servicemen and women who lost their lives, protecting our future, not only during the Great War but also in wars and conflicts since.

The people of Hucknall fell silent to remember, to reflect on the commitment and sacrifices of people who put themselves at risk for the sake of the freedom of their country.

A Remembrance day parade began on Market Place at 10.15 am under the direction of the Royal British Legion.

It made its way along a designated route to Titchfield Park, where it joined members of the public for an Act Of Remembrance service and wreath-laying at the cenotaph.

The Dispatch was innundated with pictures from the community of Hucknall remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom.
