Arts and crafts fair for young people

THE organiser of a new arts and crafts fair taking place in Hucknall is calling on local young people to display their creative talents.

The inaugural Hucknall Arts And Crafts Show is set to take place at the John Godber Community Centre on Ogle Street on Saturday October 15. It will feature a wide range of crafts stalls, activities for children and live music.

Organiser Alex Walker said the variety of activities meant the event was a slight twist on a traditional arts and crafts show.

“The aim of the event is to get young people involved, allowing them to display their talent in the community, “ he said.

“I am hoping that students from local schools will take advantage of the 20% off the stall price we are offering and hold a stall at the event.

“Arts and crafts fairs can be daunting for young people. But I would like to encourage locals to get their work into the community and into the public eye.”

Alex, who runs Hucknall firm AJ Music Solutions, explained the idea for the event came to him during his final year at university, when he was asked to present a showcase of his work to guests and other students.

“It was a great concept and all students had the opportunity to showcase the work that we had worked so hard to complete,” he added. “I felt that local young people needed an event like this to be able to showcase their work and offer it for sale to local residents.”

The event will take place between 10 am and 4 pm.

Entrance is 50p, with a percentage of the entrance fee going to the Hayward House Cancer Care Trust.

Stalls are priced at £24 each, £19 for students. To book a stall or for more information, ring Alex on 0779 2702535.
