Ashfield Homes volunteers recognised at awards ceremony

The vital contribution of volunteers at ahousing organisation was recognised at an event held at the Acacia Centre, Annesley Woodhouse.

The event concluded with a presentation session of certificates awarded to all the volunteers, during a networking lunch.

There was also the opportunity for the volunteers to talk about their involvement and experiences and why they had decided to get involved.

Kelly Scott Director of Housing Services, said: “We wanted to thank the volunteers for their time, effort, ideas and knowledge which they have contributed over the past 12 months to help Ashfield Homes achieve its aim of delivering excellent housing services”.

Over the year volunteers took on a host of roles, including organising community events - coffee mornings, bring and buy sales, bingo, bus trips, children’s parties and initiated clean-up days at the Carsic and Welbeck estates.

They also took on the roles of Mystery Shoppers, and tenant inspectors with over 50 inspections of void properties and post-repair work.

National Volunteers’ Week is an annual campaign managed by Volunteering England, and is held traditionally on the first week of June each year, with this year being the 30th anniversary.
