Ashfield MP launches online survey to hear voters views

Ashfield MP Gloria De Piero has launched an online survey inviting residents to have their say on a number of the most serious issues facing the country.

The survey, which is open to all residents living in Ashfield and Eastwood invites respondents to give their view on a wide range of topics including the impact of immigration, zero-hours contracts and low paid, part-time and insecure employment.

The MP said: “Growth might finally be returning to our economy, but it isn’t feeding through to living standards in our community. Hardworking families are struggling and wages have fallen since the last election.

“Record numbers of people are working part-time because they just can’t get the hours and the number of workers on exploitative zero-hours contracts has gone through the roof while the Minimum Wage has been run down.

The MP added; “Many people also raise immigration with me on the doorstep. I want to make clear that I don’t think it’s prejudiced to worry about immigration and I understand the legitimate concerns people have. I want to hear your views on what you think needs to be done locally to support working people – not just the few at the top.”
