Autism group appealing for new members

An autistic youth group based at Mansfield’s Portland College is appealing for new members and volunteers.

The National Autistic Society (NAS) Youth Group meets once a month between 6-8pm for various activities, including bowling, baking, laser quest, ghost walks, theme parks and much more.

NAS helps teenagers with autism and Asperger’s syndrome aged 10-19 develop skills and confidence in a small group environment.

The group currently has four members but can accommodate 10-15. Sessions cost £10.

NAS is also in need of volunteers to help out during the sessions.

Ideal candidates would have previous experience working with autism spectrum teenagers or be keen to develop a career in this area.

Training will be provided and a CRB check will be required.
