Forward planning and good preparation by a dedicated social committee team played their part in the success of an autumn fair at Seymour Road Baptist Church in Hucknall.
The church’s minister, the Rev Vanessa Hollingworth, and stalwart members Sarah Griffin and Lorna Haskey were the driving forces behind the happy social event, which was “brilliantly supported by members of the local community”.
The church was a hive of activity, and stallholders did brisk business, selling desirable items at rock-bottom prices to scores of bargain-hunters.
Bric-a-brac, artwork, books, cards, jewellery, clothing, toys, cakes and Christmas delights were just a few of the items on offer, while the kitchen team did a sterling job serving up tasty food to satisfy the needs of the “hungry hordes”.
“The fair has given the church a considerable funding boost,” said the Rev Hollingworth. “I would like to thank our hard-working social committee for all its efforts, as well as members of the public who have turned out in force to support us.”
The church has issued an open invitation to the community to attend a ‘Simply Christmas’ concert and sing-a-long which takes place on Friday, December 11 at 7 pm.
Then on Saturday, December 12, between 10 am and 4 pm, there will be an exhibition of Christmas Nativity displays and an opportunity for children and adults to dress up and be photographed at the church’s Bethlehem stable.
