SAFETY-conscious cyclists can call in at Hucknall police station to claim a free, high-visibility ‘Think Bike’ backpack.
More than 600 of the backpacks have already been handed out to cyclists on commuter routes to make them more visible. Now an extra 600 are up for grabs at police stations around the county, including the one on Watnall Road.
Chief Insp Andy Charlton said: “These fluorescent backpacks are always popular with cyclists, and this year has been no exception.”
He added: “This initiative has already helped hundreds of cyclists make themselves less vulnerable while riding alongside fast-moving traffic. Hopefully, hundreds more will take the opportunity to get hold of a backpack.”
For those who miss out this time round, the backpack giveaway will be held again in September.
