A band made up of teenagers from the Hucknall area is celebrating after winning a ‘battle of the bands’ competition.
The Ctrl competed for the title against 15 other artists from in and around Nottinghamshire.
The event was held at The Elwes Arms in Carlton to raise funds for the Rosie May charity for tsunami orphans in Sri Lanka.
The event raised more than £700 and The Ctrl were crowned winners due to “their ability to entertain and engage the audience”.
The newly-formed band consists of four local musicians aged 17 and 18 , who write and perform their own music.
They formed the group only 18 months ago and have already played numerous live gigs in Nottingham.
They have also recently recorded an EP and have had their music played on local radio.
The band members, whose initials make up the band name, are: drummer Charlie Eastap (17) of Bestwood Village, bass and lead vocalist Tom Worsell (17), of Hucknall, guitar and backing vocalist Ross McDonald (17) of Hucknall and Hucknall’s Lewis Samson (18) on guitar.
