Band through to next round of international competition


FLOURISHING band Anticure are looking to make the Dispatch district proud after winning a place in the second round of a prestigious international competition.

The four-piece group (pictured) are competing in the Surface Festival, which has a top prize of a deal to play in concerts around Europe and the rest of the world.

In all, the winning act will walk away with more than £100,000 worth of prizes.

Anticure are made up of guitarist Dave Russhard (26), of Bridge Court, Hucknall; drummer Daniel Mooken (25), of Coronation Road, Bestwood Village; bass guitarist Marc Davies (25), formerly of Hucknall and now living in St Ann’s; and lead vocalist and newest member Dana Dempster (17), of Calverton.

They competed in the first round of the competition in Birmingham. Now they will be back in the second city for round two on Thursday May 17.

After that, Anticure aim to make it through to a national event at the O2 Arena in London before European and world finals.

But they still need your support because fans can continue to vote for them by texting midlands 3076 to 64343. Texts cost £1, plus the standard network fee. Only over-16s can vote.
