Brass band players are blowing their trumpets after being crowned winners of a contest for the second time in three years.
Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass Band beat 11 other competitors in the Leicestershire Brass Band Association Open Contest.
Musical director Paul Whyley said he was pleased with the band’s performance after setting it the challenge of playing Philip Sparke’s Kaleidoscope. Members received a trophy, a certificate and £250 for the win.
The 25-strong band, rehearses weekly at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Hucknall, and currently has vacancies for percussion, but all players are welcome. Call 07811448676.
