Members of Lapwings Women’s Institute unveiled the new piece of park furniture on the playing fields at Papplewick.

Lapwings WI president Debbi Perkins presented the bench, complete with an inscribed plaque, on behalf of the Lapwings members to the chairman of the parish council Stef Roberts, in commemoration of the WI centenary. Stef thanked the WI for the donation and said she was sure it would be well used.

Debbi also thanked the Playing Fields Working Party for installing the bench.

The ladies from Lapwings WI then took part in the Papplewick Village Hall Celebrations, providing tea and cakes for the large crowd who had come together to celebrate the anniversary of the village hall. Everyone enjoyed a varied programme of great music, were able to have a glass or two of real ale from the bar and purchase a few items from the craft fair whilst the children were entertained with craft activities, balloons and face painting, as well as enjoying delicious cakes and a cuppa made by Lapwings WI.
