Bicycle getaway following meat theft

Magistrates were told how a Mansfield man admitted stealing £42 worth of meat from Clipstone Co-op then rode off on his bicycle on 15th September.

Prosecutor Robert Carr told Mansfield Magistrates’ Court how Lee Harvey (34), of Cropwell Court, was already subject to a community order at the time.

Sarah Neale, defending, said Harvey had recently lost his jobseekers allowance and had stolen the meat to sell for food.

“When arrested by police Mr Harvey admitted the offence during interview,” she added.

Harvey also admitted failing to attend court.

He was given a six-month conditional discharge and made to pay compensation of £42.
