Big switch-on in Mansfield Woodhouse

It’s that time of year again when Mansfield Woodhhouse is lit up for a celebration of Christmas.

Lights will be switched on in the market place on Thursday at 5.15pm.

Festivities begin at 4.30pm with carols from Robin Hood Primary School choir, a tree blessing and a bagpiper and free soup and mince pies for all.

A sound system will also be playing music and Santa will be in attendance handing out small gifts to children.

James Devonshire, a spokesman for Mansfield Woodhouse Community Development Group, said: “The lights switch-on is a lovely way to mark the start of the Christmas season. We anticipate this year will be a great success.

A number of roads will be closed during the event. These include:

Charles Street, Mansfield Woodhouse from its junction with Market Place to its junction with High Street

Market Place, Mansfield Woodhouse, for its whole length

High Street, Mansfield Woodhouse from its junction with Charles Street to its junction with Parkers Lane

Parkers Lane, Mansfield Woodhouse for its whole length.
