A very special birthday party was held in Hucknall for a lady who has reached the age of 108.
Beatrice ‘Beattie’ Harvey’s family and friends gathered at Hallcroft Care Home, on Croft Avenue, on Monday September 21 for celebrations.
Birthday wishes were sent to ‘an amazing mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great-grandmother!’
As well as cards and presents from well-wishers, Beattie has also received communications from Buckingham Palace - with congratulations from Her Royal Highness the Queen.
Son Albert (73) and daughters Edith (78) and Maureen (81) were in attendance - but there was not enough room to fit in all of her off-spring into the room!
Beattie’s impressive family now includes five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great, great-grandchildren.
Albert said: “My mum has never smoked - but she did enjoy going out for a drink at the weekends with my dad.”
Born Beatrice Philips on September 21 1907 in Bulwell, Beattie lived most of her life in the Kimberley area.
She worked at a bakery in Watnall, for a leather works in Giltbrook and a soft drinks firm in Nottingham.
Her husband Samuel was a miner who died in 1991, at the age of 83, following 60 years of marriage.
