Blidworth Oaks grow friends at Rotary

Blidworth Oaks Primary pupils are delighted this week after receiving a cheque for £1,600 towards their garden project from Ravenshead Rotary Club.

Rotary representatives helped the school with fundraising by holding a tombola at the Blidworth Food Fayre, with food donated by the children, which collected £137 but after explaining what they were raising money for, the club decided they would like to donate some money to help the school go ahead with the plan.

“They donated a whopping £1,600 taking us to our target,” said a school spokesman. “With our funds we are purchasing a poly tunnel to grow from seed all year round which will enable us to plant the allotment more successfully.

“We will also grow our own plants from seed for hanging baskets and tubs to hopefully help us win the East Midlands in Bloom gold award again.

“We’d like to say a big thank you to the Rotary Club for their support.”
