AN INTERNET blog has been set up to keep Hucknall residents on board with a campaign to improve and protect bus-services.
As reported in the Dispatch last month, the town’s newly-elected Labour members of Ashfield District Council are calling for improvements in local transport.
The focus of their campaign is the Trent Barton Connect service, which links outlying estates with the town centre. The firm has taken the controversial decision to drastically alter the service, dropping one route completely.
The move sparked an outcry among Connect passengers, persuading the Labour councillors to call on Conservative-controlled Notts County Council to step in.
The blog, which is on the Hucknall Labour Party site, makes reference to a similar change by Trent to a Connect service in Toton. It says the Conservative MP for that patch and Coun Richard Jackson (Con), lead member for transport at County Hall, were “optimistic” the service could be restored.
But it claims there was very little optimism in Hucknall, even though the Connect service, which runs to the main tram stop, was vital to passengers.
