Boost for disabled at leisure centre

NEW improvements to benefit disabled children have been made to the changing rooms at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

Notts County Council has funded the project at eight venues across the county, including the centre on Linby Road.

The revamp includes the installation of a changing bed, hoist, support rails and a pool chair.

Coun John Cottee (Con), the county council’s lead member for culture and community, said: “Our aim is to help transform the lives of disabled children and their families. We want Nottinghamshire to be a great place for all children to grow up.”

The cash has come from the council’s ‘Aiming Higher For Disabled Children’ programme.

Specialist equipment has also been bought to make sport more accessible across the county, including off-road wheelchairs, sports chairs, hand bikes and inline sledge-hockey equipment.
