IT has been a busy time for bands across the district and Hucknall and Linby Mining Community Brass are no exception.
With countless concerts and appearances in and around the area, as well as entering band competitions, the group have had a memorable year.
The band recently took part in an extremely successful charity concert performance at Nottingham’s Albert Hall.
Arranged by Lace City Chorus, who the band had performed with at the Olympic Torch Festival at Notttingham’s Ice Arena in the summer, they played to a ‘near capacity audience’.
All monies raised from the event were donated to Macmillan Cancer Support.
The band were forced to split into two to enable performances at two local events on Monday December 17.
One half played at Linby Christmas Festival while the other entertained at Tibshelf’s annual carol service at St John the Baptist Parish Church. Both events proved a big hit.
The band completed their performances in 2012 with their Grand Christmas Concert in Hucknall Parish Church last Saturday.
“We would like to thank local people for their support and encouragement in what has been the band’s most successful year in their short history,” said a band spokesman.
