A MAN has been charged after an armed robbery at a betting shop in Hucknall town centre.
Ryan Robinson (25), of Sargeant Close, St Ann’s, Nottingham, is accused of being involved in the raid at Ladbrokes on High Street at 6.50 pm on Monday (June 6).
He is charged with robbery and possession of an imitation firearm and appeared at Mansfield Magistrates Court on Wednesday (June 8).
Robinson is allegedly one of two men who entered the shop and threatened staff.
The raiders didn’t gain access to the safe or tills and fled with a small bundle of cash.
There were no customers inside the bookmaker’s at the time and although three members of staff were shaken, no-one was injured.
Police were quickly on the scene and made two arrests after a search of the area. The Piggins Croft car park, which Ladbrokes backs onto, was sealed off.
A 26-year-old woman has been questioned on suspicion of robbery. She has been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Officers are still on the hunt for a black man for his part in the raid.
Ladbrokes says it is co-operating with the police investigation and has made CCTV footage available.
A spokesman said that the safety of its staff and customers was a top priority.
