Snape Wood Primary and Nursery is now appealing to parents to come and see the changes that have been made to help move the school forward and bring about improvements.

“The school has had problems in the past but we are definitely on the way up,” said headteacher Scott Mason who took the helm last Easter after a period as acting head.

“We have moved from inadequate to requires improvement in our latest Ofsted report published a year ago and rated the management and leadership and the behaviour and safety of pupils as ‘good’.”

The inspectors also said ‘the school is improving rapidly’ which Mr Mason backed up.

“We have refurbished the nursery and outdoor play area as well as invested in outside consultants to review and help support change,” said Mr Mason from the Aspen Road site. “Now we just need to spread the word and get parents to come and see the changes and choose to bring their children here to start their education.

“Our nursery has plenty of availability and I am aware that other schools in the area are struggling to meet the demand. But here we can offer a child a place straight away and there is no need to wait until the start of the term.”

Snape Wood is one of only a few nurseries which can also offer part time places for children the day after their third birthday and full time placements the day after reaching their fourth birthday. The nursery is also hoping to extend their care further.

“Our whole ethos here is around child centred learning,” added Mr Mason. “Now is a great time to bring your child to Snape Wood and experience the improvements on offer.”
