Kym Shepherd, Deputy officer-in-charge at the Hucknall Day Nursery, said: “We all had a fantastic day with the McCarthy and Stone team and the children loved seeing the enormous diggers in action.

“We’re really grateful to the Site Manager, Darren, for inviting us to come down and to all the team for giving up their time.

“All the children found it really enjoyable and loved hearing about how the machinery all works.

“It was informative too, particularly in reinforcing the message about the dangers of playing on building sites.”

The development was even named by one of the nursery’s toddlers, Johanna Kiddy, who found inspiration for the name from the river Whyhurn that runs by her house.
