Bulwell Highbury Hospital patient accused of attacking carer

Raynor Elise Copson (20), who resides at the Highbury Road hospital, is charged with assaulting Nicole Wooldridge on Friday 4th January.

However, the court was told that Copson had yet to be produced before magistrates to answer the charge.

Several times since August, she had failed to appear. On one occasion, this was because a social worker was on holiday. On another occasion, the case was adjourned for psychiatric reports.

“Miss Copson has never been produced, and little or no progress has been made in the case,” said David Miles (prosecuting).

Now District Judge Leo Pyle has fixed a specific date for the hearing (Wednesday 5th March) and ordered solicitors to make arrangements to attend.

Highbury Hospital provides mental health and learning disability services for adult and elderly patients across the county. It boasts specialist care and modern, fit-for-purpose facilities.

The court was told that Copson was detained there under Section Three of the Mental Health Act. She had also received treatment at Redhill Farm care home on Bestwood Lodge Drive, Arnold.
