A 62-year-old grandfather from Bulwell has admitted raping a schoolgirl and carrying out other sex offences against her.
Brian Bartram, of Latham Street, is said to have committed the offences between September 1 2011 and August 31 2014.
Bartram appeared at Nottingham Crown Court via video-link from Nottingham Prison, where he is currently being held in custody.
He pleaded guilty to five charges, including rape of the girl, who was aged between eight and 11 at the time and cannot be named for legal reasons.
He also admitted two counts of intentional sexual touching of the girl; one of causing the girl to engage in sexual activity; and one of gaining sexual gratification by intentionally causing the girl to look at an image of a person in a sexual act. He pleaded not guilty to a sixth charge of attempted rape of the girl.
Bartram’s barrister, Richard Posner, defending, told the court: “He has co-operated with the police from the outset and made full admissions.”
Judge James Sampson ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared on Bartram by the probation service. He also asked for a victim impact statement from the girl or her mother.
The case was adjourned until Tuesday September 8 when Bartram, who was remanded in custody, will be sentenced.
