Bumper line-up of Jubilee events at John Godber Centre

AN INDOOR street-party is just one of the attractions lined up at the John Godber Centre in Hucknall to mark the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The ‘Royal Family Party’ will be on Monday June 4 to coincide with the extended Bank Holiday weekend (Saturday June 2 to Tuesday June 5) to mark the national celebrations.

It will feature a disco, food and party games for the whole community to celebrate the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

Also at the John Godber on Ogle Street will be a ‘Diamond Soul Night’, featuring the band Soul Outlaws, on Friday May 25.

Locals are then encouraged to get their gladrags on for a ‘Diamond And Black Tie Ball’ on Friday June 1, featuring ballroom dancing led by the A1 Dancing group, who are based at the centre.

There will also be a ‘Best Of British’ craft and food fair on Sunday June 3.

Kim Pears, manager of the John Godber Centre, said: “It is going to be a spectacular weekend of celebrations. We want to provide a range of events that will appeal to the whole community, regardless of age and interests.”
