Burglar followed pensioner from bank

A PENSIONER couple were the target of a burglary in Bulwell after a man followed a woman home from the bank.

The 84 year-old had made a cash withdrawal from a bank on the town’s Main Street before returning to her home on Highbury Road, which she shares with her 85-year-old husband.

It was after arriving back home that she was briefly confronted by a man wearing dark clothing.

She went into her house where she left the money in the living room.

The woman then saw the same man, who had now covered his face, leaving the property.

It was then that she discovered the cash had been taken.

“This is a despicable crime involving an elderly couple who were targeted in their own home,” said DC Craig Luckett, from Radford Road divisional investigation unit.

The theft happened on Tuesday June 19 at 11.10am.

The suspect is described as white and was wearing indistinctive dark clothing.

“Highbury Road would have been busy at that time of day and someone may have seen a man acting suspiciously in the area or driven past the suspect as he fled the scene,” added DC Luckett.

“I would appeal to anyone with information to call police immediately.”

Witnesses, or anyone with information, is asked to call DC Luckett on 101 (extension 802 4683) or call the free and confidential Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
