Campaign aims to boost appeal of Mansfield market

Mansfield District Council has organised two weeks of activities to support Mansfield’s market as part of the Love Your Local Market campaign from 14th to 28th May.

The national initiative, which is in its third year, aims to recruit new market traders and demonstrate the importance of the market as a community asset.

Throughout the fortnight, adults and children can take part in competitions to win one of five £20 vouchers to spend on the market.

On Saturday 17th and 24th May, the market place will be a hive of activity with a range of attractions including a professional chef giving cookery demonstrations and tastings, demonstrations showing you how to create the perfect hanging basket and free face painting.

As part of the campaign, MDC are offering great incentives for new and existing traders.

New traders can trade for free between either 14 and 20, or 21 and 28 May. This is on top of the existing incentive which allows new traders one week of free trading in each month for the first four months.

Existing traders can sign up for half price rent for one week of the Love Your Local Market fortnight.

Portfolio Holder for Economic Regeneration, Councillor Kate Allsop said; “We are really happy to be supporting the national campaign again this year so we can encourage everyone to show their love for Mansfield market.

“We hope lots of people will come down to shop on the market and pick up some great new ideas for things they can do with market produce.”
