Career Academy chief steps down

THE CHAIRMAN of an advisory board designed to help students at Bulwell Academy gain an insight into the world of work has stepped down.

PATRICK HELPS headed the board for the sixth-form Career Academy for three years. He helped establish close links with local businesses to provide pupils with work experience and to help them gain necessary skills to land jobs.

Mr Helps, who is former vice-chairman of brewery Hardys and Hansons, said: “It has been a privilege to have been associated with Bulwell Academy and to have worked with everyone involved on the advisory board for its first three years.

“The development has been extremely rewarding to see. Now that the Career Academy is fully established, I feel it is the right time for a new driver to take over.”

Mr Helps is succeeded in the role by FIONA ANDERSON.
