Catering firm moves in at Forest Town school

Youngsters at a Forest Town school are set for a new-look menu from September after a national catering company was appointed to provide school dinners.

Education catering specialist Taylor Shaw has won a three- year contract with Garibaldi College, in Garibaldi Road.

The school said the firm, which provides catering for schools around the country, has been brought in to ensure lunches meet the ‘changing needs and tastes of youngsters’.

There will also be a focus on sourcing local produce, and on providing healthy and nutritious food, following a major refurbishment of the college’s Hub Cafe.

As well as a modernised menu at the cafe, there will also be themed menus, a deli-style counter and snacks counters located around the college to reduce the temptation from outside caterers.

Pamela Dixon, operations director at Taylor Shaw, said: “We are really looking forward to our partnership with Garibaldi College and the opportunity to introduce our twist on the healthy alternative of high street cuisine.

Students are increasingly becoming more interested in the meals they are eating and require a menu that can rival off-site eateries. We take pride in being able to offer a wide range of nutritious meals that are cooked fresh every day using raw ingredients at prices students can afford.”
