THE chairman of Sherwood Forest Hospital’s NHS Foundation Trust has paid tribute to organisation’s hardworking staff.
Sean Lyons praised his staff moments after the judging panel selected their winners in the Nursing Awards 2013 event.
The award ceremony aims to honour staff from all three of the Trust’s hospitals, which includes King’s Mill Hospital and Mansfield Community Hospital, in four categories.
The categories were Nursing Team of the Year, Nurse of the Year, Children’s Nurse of the Year and Midwife of the Year.
Mr Lyons said: “There was an awful lot of excellent nominations and choosing winners was a tough choice for the judges.
“These awards confirm what we already know about our staff and how dedicated they are.
“We want to use these awards to encourage and reward our staff as best as we can.
“The public have voted in good numbers and it is very pleasing that the patients think highly of our staff.”
Mr Lyons also was full of praise for the way staff at the Trust have risen to the challenge as King’s Mill Hospital remains in the national spotlight.
“The staff have risen to the challenges put before them,” he added.
“It has been a challenging time for our staff. They have had to deal with a lot of outside scrutiny. I am full of admiration for all of them.”
The awards ceremony will take place at King’s Mill Hospital on 1st November between noon and 2pm.
