PUPILS and staff from Hempshill Hall Primary School let their hair down and entered into the spirit of Children In Need by holding a day of fun and fundraising.

Colourful costumes instead of traditional school uniform was the order of the day at the Bulwell School and members of staff played their parts by reading stories and encouraging their pupils to think about youngsters less fortunate than themselves.

“It was a terrific day that was well supported by the children and parents who helped make it such a success and raised cash for such a worthwhile cause,” said a school spokesman.

Key stage one pupils were given a rare treat by way of performances of a magical play called ‘Jack’, based on the Jack and the Beanstalk tale, which featured original music and inventive puppetry.

Through their efforts those involved with Hempshill Hall Primary, backed by supportive parents, raised a rewarding £353 for Children In Need.

“We are delighted with the amount we managed to collect on the day.”
