Children's cancer charity supported by Nottinghamshire Chief Constable

With support from police officers and staff, Chief Constable Chris Eyre picked ‘CLIC Sargent’ as the charity he will be supporting this year.

Each year the Chief Constable names a charity he will be supporting for the next 12 months, with the help of officers and staff.

CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people and their families. They provide clinical, practical, financial and emotional support to help them cope with cancer and to get the most out of life.

Their aim is to ensure that when a cancer diagnosis is made the whole family receives the support that works best for them.

Money raised for CLIC Sargent goes to help fund facilities like Billy’s House in Nottingham which provides ‘home from home’ accommodation for families of children and young people receiving cancer treatment at the Queens Medical Centre.

Mr Eyre said: “I was delighted to find our police officer and staff had chosen CLIC Sargent as it is a fantastic charity which does wonderful work to help support families which are going through an unimaginably difficult time.

“Money raised for the charity will go to supporting facilities such as Billy’s House which provides an absolutely vital service for local, Nottinghamshire people.”

Andy Fuller, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Manager, said: “I am absolutely thrilled that CLIC Sargent have come back as the chosen charity and thank everyone who voted.

“All of us at CLIC Sargent are really looking forward to working with Nottinghamshire Police throughout the year.”

In 2015, money was raised for the charity Crimestoppers, a cause which aims to help locate criminals and solve crimes.
